I had been at the lab
for almost four hours when Rob came in to surprise me. Minutes later, as I watched
the fruit flies (the most important part of my experiment) scatter across the
floor of the biology lab, I realized that a career in biology was not for me.
I needed to find a discipline that combined technical knowledge with human interaction.
After harassing my advisor at the University of Akron for hours, he finally introduced
me to Dr. Kimmel, a former partner in a public accounting firm. Dr. Kimmel portrayed
to me a career that would contain a variety of challenges, with the most difficult
challenge at times being the interaction with the client. Five years into my
career, I can safely say that Dr. Kimmel did not disappoint. I have been fortunate
to work on a variety of tasks and interact with many different people, from bank
presidents to farmers.
